Spotlight on: Jakarta Regional-Owned Enterprises Series - MRT Jakarta
Jakarta's aspirations to become a global city are supported in part by PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), a key player in the city's public transportation. Providing a modern and efficient rapid transit system, MRT Jakarta offers a safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation that enhances the quality of life for Jakarta's residents. The completion of Phase 1 of the MRT project, which connects Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta to Bundaran HI in Central Jakarta, has already reduced travel time and eased traffic congestion, marking a significant milestone in the city's transportation transformation.
As the city continues to grow, Phase 2A is currently under construction, extending the line further north to reach Kota Tua, Jakarta's historic heart. This expansion will further strengthen the city’s connectivity, making it easier for both residents and visitors to move across the city. In addition to expanding its network, MRT Jakarta is also focused on creating a fully integrated transportation system. By seamlessly connecting with other modes of public transport, such as TransJakarta buses and commuter trains, MRT Jakarta ensures a smooth, user-friendly travel experience for commuters, enabling more efficient and convenient travel throughout the city.
