Jakarta Achieves Strong Investment Growth and Leads National Investment Realization in The First Half of 2026

Thursday, 10 September 2026

Jakarta continued to record strong investment growth in the second quarter of 2026, strengthening its position as one of Indonesia’s leading investment destinations. From April to June (Quarter II 2026), total investment realization in Jakarta reached IDR 94.9 trillion, the highest among Indonesia’s provinces and equivalent to 18.5% of national investment realization during the quarter. The result also represented a 33.52% year-on-year increase from IDR 71.1 trillion in the same period of 2025. Growth came from both domestic and foreign capital, showing Jakarta’s continued appeal to both domestic and foreign investors.

Both domestic and foreign investment contributed significantly to Jakarta’s strong performance during the quarter. Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) reached IDR 58.6 trillion in the second quarter, up 21.74% from the same period a year earlier and placing Jakarta first nationally. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) grew even faster, increasing by 58.27% to IDR 36.3 trillion, or around USD 2.2 billion, placing Jakarta second nationally. Together, these results show that Jakarta’s investment growth continues to be supported by both domestic businesses and foreign investors.

The strong second-quarter result also lifted Jakarta’s performance for the first half of the year. From January to June 2026, total investment realization reached IDR 173.6 trillion, an increase of 23.28% compared with IDR 140.8 trillion during the same period in 2025. Over the same period, Jakarta ranked first nationally for overall investment realization and contributed 17.2% of Indonesia’s total investment realization. Of this amount, DDI was recorded at IDR 106.5 trillion, while FDI reached IDR 67.1 trillion. These results indicate that Jakarta maintained solid investment growth throughout the first half of 2026.

The sectoral composition provides a clearer view of where capital is being directed. Transportation, warehousing and telecommunications recorded the highest investment realization at IDR 54.3 trillion, representing 31% of Jakarta’s total investment in the first half of 2026, followed by other services at IDR 43.6 trillion and trade and repair activities at IDR 28.4 trillion. Investment across these sectors is closely linked to Jakarta’s role as a centre for services, commerce, connectivity and digital activity. Major corporate headquarters, MRT and LRT networks, fibre-optic connectivity and integrated digital licensing services continue to support the city’s business and investment environment.

The first-half results also provide a closer look at how investment was distributed across Jakarta. South Jakarta recorded the highest combined DDI and FDI realization at IDR 62.6 trillion, followed by Central Jakarta at IDR 49.9 trillion. North Jakarta recorded IDR 23.1 trillion, while West Jakarta and East Jakarta reached IDR 20.6 trillion and IDR 17.1 trillion. Looking at the composition by source of capital, Central Jakarta recorded the highest DDI at IDR 39.5 trillion, while South Jakarta led in FDI at IDR 37.6 trillion. Investment activity in the first half of 2026 also supported the absorption of 298,223 Indonesian workers, including 220,885 from DDI and 77,338 from FDI.

Jakarta’s investment performance in the first half of 2026 shows continued growth across both DDI and FDI, supported by activity across key sectors and throughout Jakarta. To maintain this performance, Jakarta continues to strengthen investment facilitation, develop a more structured pipeline of potential investment projects, and promote priority investment opportunities through the Jakarta Investment Centre (JIC). These efforts are aimed at connecting investors with prospective projects and facilitating their progress towards investment realization.
