JIF Summit 2026 - The Road Ahead for Jakarta's Coastal Transformation Recap

At the JIF Summit 2026 Side Panel, “The Road Ahead for Jakarta’s Coastal Transformation,” leaders from government agencies, private sectors and business chambers explored how Jakarta can strengthen coastal resilience while creating long-term public and economic value.

The session featured:

Mr. Sawarendro, Deputy for Regional Management of Banten, Jakarta, and West Java, Board for Northern Java Authority, who discussed the scale of the Giant Sea Wall programme and the importance of coordinated, locally appropriate coastal interventions.

Mr. Djuang F. Sodikin, Deputy Assistant for Spatial Planning and Agrarian Affairs, Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, who highlighted the need for a programme-based approach that integrates spatial planning, land, infrastructure, institutions, and implementation sequencing.

Mr. Afan Adriansyah Idris, Assistant to the Provincial Secretary for Development and Environment, Jakarta Provincial Government, who addressed Jakarta’s coastal risks and the city’s priorities for flood protection, water security, environmental improvement, and coastal revitalisation.

Mr. Adi Pranasatrya, Division Head of Advisory & Syndication, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur, who discussed project preparation, public-private partnerships, blended finance, and other instruments to improve infrastructure project bankability.

Mr. Mark van Zanten, President Director of PT Haskoning Indonesia, who shared an adaptive and multifunctional approach to coastal development that brings together safety, nature, public access, and economic value.

Mr. Erlangga Atmadja, Director of Infrastructure Advisory, PT KPMG Siddharta Advisory, who outlined potential investment opportunities across infrastructure, utilities, logistics, renewable energy, public spaces, and resilient real estate.

Together, they discussed integrated planning, project readiness, financing structures, adaptive design, risk allocation, and the partnerships needed to advance NCICD as both a public resilience programme and a platform for long-term investment.
