Investment Realization in Indonesia: October 2022 to December 2022




Indonesia experienced an increase in investment realization during the fourth quarter of 2022. The total investment realization for this quarter reached Rp 314.8 Trillion, which represents a 2.3% increase from the previous quarter. The increase in investment led to the creation of 339.879 jobs in the country.

Domestic investment was a significant contributor to the increase, accounting for Rp 139.6 trillion or 44.4% of the total investment realization. This represented a 17.0% year-on-year increase. Foreign investment also played a significant role, accounting for Rp 175.2 trillion or 55.6% of the total investment realization. The foreign investment saw a 43.3% year-on-year increase.

Investment in the Java Island accounted for 47.8% of the total investment realization, totaling Rp 150.6 trillion. This represents a 32.1% year-on-year increase and a 6.4% quarter-on-quarter increase. Outside of Java, investment accounted for Rp 164.2 trillion or 52.7% of the total investment realization, with a 28.7% year-on-year increase but a 1.3% quarter-on-quarter decrease.

The five dominant sectors of investment in 2022 were the mining sector with Rp 39.8 trillion, basic metal industry, metal goods (non-machinery and equipment) with Rp 39.4 trillion, transportation, warehouse, and telecommunications with Rp 36.8 trillion, the chemical and pharmaceutical industry with Rp 33.5 trillion, and residential, industrial, and office areas with Rp 28.9 trillion.

The top five locations of investment in Indonesia in 2022 were West Java with Rp 46.2 trillion, Central Sulawesi with Rp 34.7 trillion, DKI Jakarta with Rp 34.0 trillion, East Java with Rp 30.9 trillion, and Riau with Rp 23.5 trillion.

In conclusion, the investment realization in Indonesia during the fourth quarter of 2022 was a positive sign for the country's economy. The increase in investment, both domestic and foreign, led to the creation of jobs and growth in various sectors. The Java Island and the five dominant sectors of investment were significant contributors to the increase.
