JAKARTA (9/11) - PT Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta provides three solar charging stations for electric bicycles and electric motorcycles in the Dukuh Atas Transit Oriented Development (TOD), Central Jakarta.

“The first step, of course, is to disseminate it to the community with key partners, namely the Environment Agency and PT PLN (state-owned electricity firm),” said MRT’s Director for Business Development, Farchad Mahfud, at Dukuh Atas TOD, Wednesday, November 9th, 2022.

Beside electric bikes and motorbikes, the stations can be used for charging mobile phones, which supports a wireless system.

The facility is also provided to encourage Jakarta residents to use electric vehicles in order to establish an environmentally friendly city. “Reducing carbon emissions is a form of Jakarta’s innovation to strengthen public ecosystems and eco-friendly transit-oriented areas,” he explained.

Farchad also hoped that the Dukuh Atas TOD could be an example of an emission-free area in the capital. “One of the efforts to boost MRT Jakarta’s economic growth is to provide good services for the community by increasing mobility, reducing congestion and developing an environmentally friendly urban transportation system,” he said.
