JIF 2022, promoting Jakarta as an investment-friendly, sustainable and livable city

JAKARTA (1/9) - Jakarta Capital City Government collaborating with the U20 Mayors Summit and Bank Indonesia (BI) held an annual investment forum, Jakarta Investment Forum (JIF) 2022. 

JIF event series are held hybrid at Fairmont Hotel Jakarta on Thursday, September 1st 2022 and live streamed through Zoom Meetings as well as ‘Pemprov DKI Jakarta’ and ‘Layanan Jakarta’ Youtube channel. 

Bringing the theme of "Investing in Resilience", JIF 2022 aimed to promote Jakarta as an investor-friendly city as well as accelerating a sustainable and liveable city development. The theme is also in line with the U20 Summit priority issue: "Recover Together, Recover Stronger".

As an integrated event, JIF 2022 has the same focus which are the post-pandemic and climate change challenges. The Jakarta Capital City Government has set a strong vision to develop a more sustainable and liveable city onwards. 

In 2009, Jakarta committed to reduce 30% of greenhouse gas (GHG) by 2030. As per 2021, the target has been achieved by 26%. 

Through JIF 2022, the Jakarta Capital City Government is keen to discuss all of the challenges along with the necessary regulations to foster green investment in the city. This forum is expected to sustainably boost investment and subsequently realize the Net-Zero Emission target by 2050 for the future generation. 

JIF 2022 provides a meeting point for public officials, investors, and potential project owners to explore various potential investment collaborations in Jakarta. 

The Assistant to the Provincial Secretary for Economic and Finance, Sri Haryati, asserted that the investors stated their interest with the potential projects offered in the forum. She hopes that this meeting will trigger interactions between investors and the project owners to realize more investment in Jakarta. 

"The Head of Department of Investment and Integrated One-Stop Services (DPMPTSP) of the Jakarta Capital City Government through Jakarta Investment Centre (JIC) together with the other Head of Departments and Regional Owned Enterprises (ROEs) are also ready to provide detailed informations regarding the potential projects in Meet the Leaders session," she said. 

"Hopefully after this event takes place, investors will realize the investment in potential projects so that sustainable development in Jakarta can be realized," Sri added. 

The Head of DPMPTSP of the Jakarta Capital City Government, Benny Aguscandra, stated that his team is ready to facilitate potential investors in gaining all of the informations needed on the potential projects for the development of a sustainable Jakarta. 

"There are 15 potential sustainable green investment projects that are offered by 7 ROEs with an estimated investment value of Rp 280 trillion. These projects include various sectors such as infrastructure, transportation, Transit Oriented Development (TOD), renewable energy, health, tourism and waste management," he explained. 

"JIF 2022 participants can explore all of these projects in the project booth at the forum," Benni added. 

JIF 2022 event series are attended by 793 participants in a hybrid format. The forum is attended directly by 8 Ambassadors of friendly countries including Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, South Africa, Qatar, Bahrain and Morocco. Also present in the event representatives from the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherland, Kuwait, France, Denmark, Spain, Czech, Turkey and other countries as well as business communities, both from within and outside the country. 

Seven ROEs participated in JIF 2022 are PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta), PT Jakarta Propertindo (JakPro), PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN), Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP) and Jakarta Experience Board (JXB). 

While the head of departments participated in the Meet the Leaders session among others are Board for Regional Development Planning; Board for Local Asset Management; Board for Regional Revenue; Department of Investment and Integrated One-Stop Services; Department for Spatial and Land Planning; Department of Environmental Affairs; Department of Manpower, Transmigration and Energy; Department of Water Resources; Department of Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture; and Bureau for Development and Environment. 

JIF 2022 provides potential projects from Jakarta ROEs that are open for collaboration with potential investors through investment mechanism. The forum also facilitates meeting between investors with the stakeholders through Meet the Leaders, One-on-One Meeting, and ROEs Networking Session. 

In addition, JIF 2022 presents panel discussion on Sustainable Food System, Waste Management through Circular Economy, and Public Private Partnership (PPP) Green Investment to boost sustainable projects in Jakarta. Collaborating with the British Embassy Jakarta, the forum also presents a discussion which brings the theme of "Funding Infrastructure: Unlocking Multi-Resources in Structuring the Project''.
