Investment Forum (JIF) 2024 Plenary Discussion, themed "Global City Notion for a Golden Nation," brought together key policymakers and experts to discuss Jakarta's potential as a future global city. With the relocation of the capital, the session explored strategies for strengthening Jakarta’s economic power, global competitiveness, and its appeal to international investors.
Our first speakers, Mr. Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners at Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), opened the discussion by providing a macroeconomic outlook, emphasizing Jakarta’s role in maintaining global economic stability.
Mr. Bambang Brodjonegoro, Urban & Regional Development Expert, followed with a discussion on optimizing Jakarta’s unused urban spaces, especially after the capital’s relocation.
Mrs. Sri Haryati, Assistant to the provincial Secretary for Economic and Finance, shared insights on Jakarta’s role as Indonesia’s economic powerhouse, contributing significantly to national growth.
Finally, Ms. Safiah Moore, Associate Principal at Arup Indonesia, showed comparisons between London’s success as a global city and Jakarta’s potential.
The session concluded with a sense of optimism about Jakarta’s future as a global city, with a clear focus on urban regeneration, sustainability, and strategic partnerships to drive its global transformation.
