On April 23, 2024, key representatives from Jakarta Investment Centre (JIC) and the France Embassy held a courtesy meeting aimed at strengthening economic relationships between Jakarta and Paris. The meeting serves as a platform to introduce JIC, Jakarta's official investment promotion agency, to France entities highlighting robust investment opportunities in Jakarta's dynamic market to France investors and businesses.
France has been a strategic partner for Jakarta’s development as it recorded as the 9th largest FDI contributor in Jakarta with investment realization reaching USD 53.960 thousand in 2023. This has been shown by around 200 France companies that are currently operating in Jakarta.
The meeting concluded with strategic plans to enhance mutual investments by encouraging more investment in transportation, infrastructure, waste management, smart cities, data centers and agriculture which are seen as promising sectors by the France entities due to Indonesia's rapidly growing middle-class and the ongoing economic centrality of Jakarta, even as the national capital relocates. A direct flight service between Paris and Jakarta is expected to be provided in the future to support seamless business exchanges.
Moving forward, JIC and the Embassy of France committed to foster deeper economic links between Jakarta and Paris.
